Today was an absolute miserable day to be out on the big blue for sure. We started out crossing the bar in total fog but it was pretty smooth over all. After a long and very bumpy ride we finally made it to the Cr Buoy about an hour later. We found the regular crowd out there trying to find the Coho. We were there also to do the same. It was very disappointing to see nothing hooked for all the boats for the first 45 minutes. This just wasn’t the typical show and certainly nothing like a few weeks ago when we were there with Rich. Just as I make a remark about leaving, a pair of boats hook up beside us with fairly decent Coho. Rule #1 never leave fish to find fish right? WRONG…Today at least that was not true as we trolled for another hour with not even a sniff and by this time everyone had spread out beyond site trying to find a fish or two. So, we begin a long and boring troll north in very sloppy condition. The weather was going away on us pretty good with a brutal chop and building swell making then effort and presentation all that much worse. Just as we raise our hands in defeat Todd’s rod slams down viciously and he is hooked up. The line is freakin screaming like mad as he say’s “this might not be silver!” I’m like no kidding? After a long fight it’s in the box. We continued to troll north and soon as we hit the green 1 can my rod slams and we are on another Chinook. It had been awhile since a nailed a Chinook in the salt. Holy cow these Chinook tear you up. I will attach some video of the trip this evening for sure. Keep those rods bent and stay tuned!!!!
