Todd Stacks The Steel Like Cord Wood

What a day I had listening to this over the phone while I try to pound out the daily duties at the office. First call from Todd is the standard just got a nice one! I think to myself wow sounds like a good start…. Second call we have three in the box. By this time I’m having a fit and totally worthless for any kind of production. All I can think about is getting into some of this action for myself…day is officially blown to hell. Sooo I finish the day that seemed to last for eternity and make it home. Wasn’t long before Todd, Jed, and Nolan pull into the drive with an amazing cooler full of summer Steelhead. These guy’s wound up with seven fish to the boat and five in the box. Sunburned but all smiles in this picture for sure! Nice going guy’s.

Magicsoul’s Pig Summer Steelie!!!

The last month or two has been really spectacular catching and even better camaraderie! Sometimes we get so caught up and  focus so much on what we catch we lose site of the most important things like friends and time spent with them. Todd, Brent, and myself have spent some really fun days enjoying the weather taking in great scenery, and of course catching some fish as well. It’s really been a success with a mixed bag of species also. One of these days we managed to boat a Springer, Summer Chinook, and even a Sockeye! Had we landed a Steelhead I imagine it could be called a Columbia River Grand Slam if there where such a thing I suppose. You really have to love the Northwest for all the angling opportunities it affords us. Just a few days later we were landing beautiful summer Steelhead on another river and the next day offshore for Coho. Here is a great picture of Brent’s summer run that put up an amazing tussle! His fish was taken with some home cured Borax egg’s backtrolled behind a diver in a new river we have been learning. We actually saved the egg’s from a trip together last fall catching unbelievable amounts of Coho. Summer months are usually looked at as down time for the angler but this last few years we have kept very busy catching and taking a break from dreary weather. As we wind down the month of July we can only look forward to the terrific late summer fishing to come. Summer Steelhead are as bountiful if not better than last year, and the Fall Coho and Chinook are right at the backdoor. Check out this short video of our offshore season opener with Rich aboard his boat the “uncorked”.   Thanks for a great trip Rich and it was really spectacular seeing Madison enjoy the ocean and pull on a few very scrappy Coho. Looking forward to filling the kill bags with Albacore over the course of the summer.
