Dirty Start To Upriver Bright Season

Kinda par for the course that the Summer Chinook season start with high and dirty water. This year in general has been pretty difficult with all the bad weather that blows the rivers. Springer season was good but with tight restrictions and no place to fish made it very challenging. In recent weeks I have been hitting the smaller tribs for summer steel and Spring Chinook with moderate success, but was anxious as hell to get on the Columbia for some bruiser Chinook. Well so happens I got out this weekend with “DD”, Brent, and Jerry. Jerry was in town from Arizona and it was very important to me to see him get a fish. He did! I had heard rumours of bank anglers taking a good number of fish on Tuna balls and spin glo’s. Being a died hard Tuna chaser I hit the fridge and thawed some fresh albacore loins for bait. It really was the ticket for sure. I wrapped a custom painted K-14 with albacore and sunk her down. It wasn’t 10 minutes and we had the first hook up. We went 2 for 5 all on the albacore in a good spot about 25ft deep. Check out the video…Keep plenty of bend in the rods!

Skagit Master Volume 2

Sorry for my long absence I have been inundated with fishing , work , and family. Spring Salmon was off the hook and now I’m onto the Summer Steel and Upriver Bright’s with vengeance. One thing I did want to pass along is the sneak peek of New Water Media’s volume 2 of the Skagit Master series! The first installment was superb so I can only imagine that round two will be even better. Jeff let me know that this video is educational and very fishy for those of you that need the big action scenes fighting large shouldered reel blistering Steel! Combine this with the breathtaking scenery and its a must have for the home library right? Check it out and stay tuned for the upcoming Salmon, Steelhead, and Tuna season that’s right on top of us!
