With the season closed on the Columbia we have been hitting the local trib’s and getting some very nice fish. I hit the channel Saturday early and got this nice little one right on the bottom with a prawn and had another very good take. It didnt happen and we finished up an early day going 1 for 4. Here is a nice shot of a springer that Jim got in the last few days also. Jim has really been tearing it up this season putting some good numbers in the box. How many Jim? By the way Jim great industrial background for the photo. I’ve lost track … With the Willamette closing this Thursday it will be time to bust out the jet and start running the Clack and Sandy! I’m sure everyone else is thinking the same thing. Let’s keep the fingers crossed and see if they reopen the Columbia for a short second season… If they do we will be up at Bonneville Slayin them on the backtroll.

Not a joke! Friday morning Todd, Bob , and myself headed out for a morning shot at some spring salmon action. Now the fishing has been really good for me lately but not like this.
We hit the river a little late do to a long run in an effort to avoid the Friday caos of the Columbia. We had a good half hour run before we started fishing my favorite spot. We got there and got out the discoball plug cuts. Within a few minutes Todd had on a beautiful native pig!!! As you can tell by the pics he is a little challenged after just having shoulder surgery. None the less he fought the fish to the net, and it was released with a quick snip of the leader. We trolled a little longer when Todd’s rod slammed down again! Just as Bob and I were clearing the lines I thought I felt Todd’s fish get into my gear….It wasn’t for a few seconds that I realized we were doubled up on Springers!!!! How often does that happen. I fought mine very aggressively and Bob slipped the net in and got her. Quickly I dumped the fish free from the net and spun around to see Todd’s fish flash on the water. Just a few seconds later and we have a pair weighing 19 and 21lbs on the deck of the boat!!!!! Now its Bobs turn!!! We get the mess untangled after that rodeo and back to trolling. It tooka about 35 minutes and Bobs rod is pinned…Bob did a great job and we ended up 3 for 4 and finished at 9:30 A.M. I wanted to throw out a huge thanks to Bob for getting us out in his very nice North River. It was great fishing with you and cant wait to get out with you again soon!!!!

Gabe with a nice native on his new rod
Gabe is pictured here with a great fighting Willamette native that was quickly released. It was hilarious this spastic Springer almost jumped into the boat when we were netting him!!! Gabe was pretty excited to get the cherry off his brand new Lamiglass 10’6 Dave Veder series rod.

Jorrod's first salmon ever!!!!!
Out Friday afternoon we got this pig on a herring below Davis Bar. This was a cool deal cause it was Jarrod’s first salmon and a big one at that. It was a long fight and I’m not sure who was more tired the fish or Jarrod. Anyways it was great getting him out and even better to see him fight a great big salmon!!!

Big Tone
Saturday morning was a ton of fun!! I took Todd, Gabe, and Big Tone out for a early morning springer hunt. Todd just had shoulder surgery and was a serious trooper for even making it out. He was nice enough to turn over his boat to us and keep us fishing while he kicked back and enjoyed the catching. It was a very slow day of fishing but we managed to boat two very nice springers, one native and another hatchery! It was great to be able to show Todd one of my favorite fisheries and wind up hooking a few to boot! Thats this weekends report so see you guy’s out there soon….
