When everyone stays home and waits for rain Chris is out hooking beautiful chrome!!! By the way it was a double digit day… If you want to book a trip with a true professional I can’t recommend anyone but Chris Vertopoulos. I have fished with him myself and can say that not only is he a killer fisherman but the trip overall is a great fishing experience. I think back on some trips I have taken with other guides and I never really had any fun. Sure we caught some fish but the experience was lack luster at best. You wont have that with Chris! Get out with him and you will be amazed at what you will learn, and what a great guy he is. With plenty of steelhead season left and springer’s right around the corner now is the time to get after them!!!! Check out his site over in the link section…..
Double D trying hard to get us on a early spring slime rocket
With the water very low and pressure high for steelhead we decided to give some spring salmon a try. Fridays report was that 5 were checked at Fred’s and several more were hooked in the Big C so we decided to give it a whirl. Jim, Gabe, Myself, and Todd hit it early with a sunrise that was unbelievable. Pulling herring all over that river we never had a take. I expected it to be slow but its not often Todd and I get off the water without a take at least. Oh well its early and what a great day just hangin with a terrific group of anglers. Everything looked sooo good including some killer herring that was delivered wednesday night by the Herring Ferry!! Check out how gorgeous that herring looked after soaking in the secret brine….
I took a few minutes to install some rod storage today. It had been on my mind for a few months but recently at the Pacific Northwest Sportsman Show Savannah and I met Larry, owner of Riverwolf Driftboats. We spent some time oogling over his custom boats and enjoyed hearing about the company and getting to know Larry. I have to tell you it was hard to leave that show without taking one of his boats home. The quality of construction and innovative design that goes into them is remarkable. Larry is more than a boat builder. He is a serious fisherman that spends his time combining angling with driftboat design on the water! Thirty years of that knowledge is then crafted into a work of art with oars. I can honestly say that my next boat will be a Riverwolf! Savannah thinks it should be pink….Larry took great care of me with my new rod storage and I will be adding some tackle storage very soon. If your in the market for an amazing drifter please check out the link to his site!!! He also manufactures and sells terrific aftermarket accessories at a great price. Thanks Larry and I look forward to the next time we get to shoot the breeze!

Now you do!!!! I can tell by this sample video that the belly hook will need some modification.
Pay attntion to the rattle in the plug as you watch this clip. Feel free to hit me up with any ideas of what you might want to see. My next few clips will include use of Flurocardon leaders to show the visibility of leaders in clear water conditions. Tight lines fella’s!!!!!
Although the weather was bad the presure was light…
We have had some unbeleivable multiple fish day’s. Jim came up with an incredible two fish landed with only two casts!!!! First time myself and Todd have ever seen that happen.
We wound up hooking five fish this day with four to the boat. Yep we were right out there the next day for sure going 4 for 4 just myself and Todd.
Double D just cant resist using this plug
Pretty cool inaction photo Todd
